What is MetaMask Rewards?

MetaMask Rewards (MetaMask Rewards is the official loyalty and points program built into the MetaMask self-custodial wallet by Consensys) is the official loyalty program built directly into the MetaMask wallet. You opt in once and then earn points automatically for trading activity — swaps, perpetuals, prediction-market trades, MetaMask Card spending, and referrals — plus a one-time credit for your historical on-chain volume. Points roll up into seasonal tiers that unlock token allocations, fee discounts, and perks. It is free to join and fully self-custodial, but it is a trading-incentive program, not cash-back: every point is earned by paying trading fees. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

Most "wallet rewards" in crypto history were either thinly veiled token-farming campaigns or referral pyramids. MetaMask Rewards is the largest legitimate version of the category: it is run by Consensys, it sits inside the most-used self-custodial wallet (100M+ lifetime users), and Season 1 actually paid — distributing a cut of over $30 million in LINEA tokens to participants.

The catch is structural and worth stating up front: you earn points by generating trading volume, and that volume costs money. MetaMask's in-wallet swaps carry a fee (historically ~0.875%) on top of network gas and DEX spread. So unlike a credit-card cash-back program where spending is something you'd do anyway, here the "reward" is a speculative claim on future token value earned by paying real fees. That can be a good deal — if you were going to trade self-custodially regardless — or a bad one, if you start manufacturing volume just to farm points.

Bottom line: MetaMask Rewards is a legitimate, free, self-custodial loyalty layer with genuine upside (Season 1 paid out >$30M in LINEA). But it rewards trading volume you pay fees for, and point cash-value is not fixed. Opt in if you already trade in MetaMask; don't trade more just to chase points.

→ Join MetaMask Rewards (500-point sign-up bonus) (referral link — you get 250 bonus points on top of the standard 250, for 500 total)

⚠️ UK and unsupported regions: MetaMask Rewards is currently unavailable in the United Kingdom and any other region where MetaMask services aren't supported. The wallet still works; the Rewards program does not. Check eligibility in-app before planning around it.

How you earn points

You opt in once, then points accrue automatically for every eligible trade. Swaps pay the most per dollar (8 points / $10), prediction markets are the densest (2 points / $1), and you can backfill up to 50,000 points from past swap/bridge volume. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

ActivityPoints rateNotes
Token swaps8 points per $10 swappedOn or across supported networks; Linea swaps have carried a 2x boost
Perpetuals1 point per $10 tradedCounts opening, closing, and take-profit / stop-loss executions
Prediction markets2 points per $1 tradedHighest point density per dollar
MetaMask Card1 point per $1 spentReal-world spend via the MetaMask Card
Referrals10 points per 50 points your referees earnPlus they get +250 sign-up points
Historical activity250 points per $1,250 of past swap/bridge volumeOne-time backfill, capped at 50,000 points per user
Sign-up bonus250 points (500 via referral)One-time, on opt-in

There is no upper limit to the points you can earn from ongoing trading (only the historical backfill is capped). OpenSea Rewards Program members also receive a one-time bonus of 100–1,000 points depending on their chest tier, and you can link multiple MetaMask accounts to combine their points into one balance.

The single best "free" move is the historical backfill: if you've swapped or bridged $250,000+ through MetaMask over the years, you instantly claim the full 50,000-point cap with zero new fees. Everyone should do this on opt-in.

What points are actually worth

This is the program's central uncertainty. Points are not a fixed cash-back rate — they are a claim on whatever each season decides to distribute. Season 1 mapped points to a share of >$30M in LINEA plus discounts and perks; future seasons may differ. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

In Season 1 the headline reward was a slice of over $30 million in LINEA tokens, allocated by points/tier, alongside trading-fee discounts and exclusive offers. That makes the effective "value per point" a function of (a) the total reward pool, (b) how many points the whole user base earns, and (c) the market price of the reward token at distribution. None of those are knowable in advance.

Practical framing:

  • If you trade anyway: points are a genuine rebate-plus-lottery-ticket on activity you were already paying for. Pure upside.
  • If you trade more to farm points: you are paying ~0.875% in swap fees (plus gas and spread) to earn points of uncertain value. At 8 points per $10 swapped, you'd need each point to be worth a meaningful fraction of a cent before the fee drag is covered — usually it isn't, unless a token distribution prices points generously.
  • The boost game: Linea-network swaps have earned a 2x boost, and boosts stack (a 100% + 50% boost = 2.5x). That improves the math, but it also routes your volume onto one Consensys-aligned L2 — which is exactly the point of the incentive.

Treat points as speculative miner-equity-style exposure to Consensys's growth flywheel, not a savings yield.

The season and tier system

Rewards run in seasons. Within a season, cumulative points unlock progression tiers with escalating perks. After a season, tier progress resets but points carry forward toward the next season's levels, and prior-season trading earns bonuses. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

Season 1 (Oct 28, 2025 – Jan 22, 2026) used seven tiers:

LevelPoints requiredHeadline reward
Origin0Baseline (opted in)
Frontier>1,000LINEA token allocation
Sylvana>25,00024-hour 50% points boost
Oceania>50,00050% perps fee discount
Denalia>100,000Priority support + 3-day boost
Titana>1,000,00065% perps fee discount + AlphaFoxes club access
Utopia>5,000,000Free MetaMask Metal Card for one year

The top tiers are realistically only reachable by high-volume perps traders and whales — 1,000,000 points at 1 point per $10 of perps is $10M of perps volume. For ordinary users, the achievable band is Frontier → Oceania, where the perps fee discount and the LINEA allocation are the real prizes.

The May 6, 2026 relaunch added trading challenges, airdrops, and a Benefits tab surfacing partner perks — signalling the program is shifting from a single token-distribution event toward an ongoing, partner-funded loyalty hub.

How to get started (and do it efficiently)

Update to MetaMask mobile v7.57+, opt in via a referral link for 500 starting points, immediately claim your historical-volume backfill, then only earn further points on trades you'd make anyway. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

  1. Confirm eligibility. You must be in a supported region — not the UK. Check the Rewards tab; if it's geo-blocked, stop here.
  2. Update the app. MetaMask mobile must be version 7.57 or higher on iOS or Android. Rewards also appears in the extension.
  3. Opt in through a referral link to bank 500 points instead of 250. (Use ours if you don't have one.)
  4. Claim the historical backfill. Link any older MetaMask accounts with past swap/bridge volume — up to 50,000 points for free, no new fees.
  5. Link multiple accounts to consolidate points into one balance and tier.
  6. Earn on real trades only. If you swap, run perps, trade prediction markets, or spend the MetaMask Card anyway, the points accrue automatically. Use Linea-boosted swaps when the route and price are competitive.
  7. Don't wash-trade for points. The fee drag almost always exceeds uncertain point value. Farm volume only where the trade has independent merit.

→ Opt in to MetaMask Rewards

MetaMask Rewards vs CEX loyalty programs

MetaMask keeps you self-custodial and adds speculative token upside; a CEX program gives lower, more predictable fees and custodial cash-back. The right pick depends on whether you trade on-chain or on an exchange. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

FeatureMetaMask RewardsCEX loyalty (Binance, Coinbase)
CustodySelf-custodial (you hold keys)Custodial (exchange holds funds)
Reward typePoints → token allocations + discountsFee rebates, cash-back, tiers
Reward certaintyLow (token value varies by season)High (known fee/cash-back rates)
Trading-fee baseHigher (swap ~0.875% + gas)Lower (taker fees often under 0.1%)
UpsideSpeculative airdrop/token exposureCapped, predictable
Region limitsGeo-restricted (no UK)Varies; often broader

MetaMask Rewards wins for users who are already self-custodial and want airdrop-style upside without leaving their wallet. A CEX program wins on raw cost-efficiency and predictability. They aren't mutually exclusive — many traders run both.

Who it's good for

Fits self-custodial users in supported regions who already swap, run perps, or spend the MetaMask Card — and who treat the points as upside, not income. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

✅ You already trade self-custodially inside MetaMask and want rebate-plus-airdrop upside on it ✅ You have historical swap/bridge volume to backfill into free points ✅ You hold or plan to use the MetaMask Card for real-world spend ✅ You want Linea / Consensys ecosystem exposure and don't mind volume being steered there ✅ You're in a supported region (not the UK)

Who should skip it

Skip if you're in the UK, if you'd have to manufacture trades to earn, or if you want predictable, guaranteed cash-back. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

❌ You're in the UK or another unsupported region — you simply can't use it ❌ You'd trade more than you otherwise would just to farm points (the fees usually win) ❌ You want guaranteed cash-back with a known value — point value is season-dependent ❌ You primarily trade on a CEX and have no reason to move on-chain ❌ You're uncomfortable routing volume to Linea to chase boosts

Risk and reality check

The risks here aren't custody risks — they're value-uncertainty and behavioral risks. The program can't lose your funds; it can lure you into fee-heavy trading for points that may underdeliver. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

  • Point-value risk. Points are a claim on future, season-defined rewards. If a season's token distribution is smaller, the reward token's price falls, or the user base balloons, value per point drops. There is no floor.
  • Fee-drag / overtrading risk. The biggest real cost. Swap fees (~0.875%) plus gas and spread can quietly exceed point value if you trade for points rather than for reasons. This is the program's most common way to lose money.
  • Boost-steering. 2x Linea boosts are an incentive to concentrate volume on one L2. Fine if Linea has the best route; a hidden cost if you'd otherwise get better execution elsewhere.
  • Geo-restriction / policy change. UK and other regions are excluded today, and program terms (rates, tiers, season rewards) can change between seasons with no obligation to maintain Season 1's generosity.
  • Sybil / multi-account rules. Linking accounts to combine points is allowed; fabricating wash volume or fake referrals risks disqualification under program terms.

Final verdict

MetaMask Rewards is the most credible self-custodial loyalty program in crypto — free to join, genuinely paid out (>$30M in LINEA in Season 1), and well-integrated into a wallet you may already use. But it is a trading-incentive program, not cash-back: points cost fees to earn and their cash value is season-dependent. Opt in if you already trade in MetaMask and are in a supported region; never trade more just to farm points. Last verified: 2026-06-01.

Recommended action: if you're eligible (not in the UK), opt in via a referral link for the 500-point head start, immediately claim your historical-volume backfill for up to 50,000 free points, and from then on let points accrue on the trading you'd do anyway. Aim for the Oceania tier (perps fee discount) as the realistic prize; treat any token allocation as upside, not a plan. Keep your fees-per-point honest — the moment you're trading because of points, the program is costing you money.

Frequently asked questions

Is MetaMask Rewards legit?

Yes. MetaMask Rewards is the official loyalty program built into MetaMask's self-custodial wallet by Consensys. It launched in Season 1 (Oct 28, 2025 – Jan 22, 2026), distributed a cut of over $30M in LINEA tokens, and relaunched May 6, 2026 with trading challenges, airdrops, and a Benefits tab. It is free to opt in and does not take custody of your assets — but it rewards trading volume, so the points are not "free money."

How do you earn MetaMask Rewards points?

You earn points automatically for eligible activity once you opt in: roughly 8 points per $10 swapped (on or across supported networks), 1 point per $10 of perps volume, 2 points per $1 traded on prediction markets, and 1 point per $1 spent on the MetaMask Card. You also get 250 points per $1,250 of past swap/bridge volume (up to 50,000 points) and a 250-point sign-up bonus (500 if you join via a referral link).

Is there a MetaMask Rewards referral bonus?

Yes. If you sign up through a referral link you get 250 extra points on top of the 250-point sign-up bonus, for 500 points total. The referrer then earns 10 points for every 50 points you earn from trading. You find your own referral link under the referrals icon in the Rewards tab.

Is there a MetaMask Rewards promo code?

There is no MetaMask Rewards promo code — the program uses referral links, not codes. Signing up through a referral link gives you 250 extra points on top of the 250-point sign-up bonus (500 total), and the referrer earns 10 points for every 50 points you earn from trading. Anyone advertising a "MetaMask promo code" or "MetaMask referral code" is really just sharing a referral link.

What are MetaMask Rewards points worth?

Their value is not fixed and is the main uncertainty. In Season 1, points mapped to a share of a >$30M LINEA token distribution plus perks like perps fee discounts, boosts, and a free Metal Card at the top tier. Future seasons may reward differently. Treat points as a speculative claim on future token allocations and discounts, not a guaranteed cash-back rate.

Is MetaMask Rewards available in the UK?

No. As of mid-2026 MetaMask Rewards is "currently unavailable in the United Kingdom, and in any other regions where MetaMask services are not supported." The program is geo-restricted, so UK-based users cannot opt in or earn points even though the wallet itself works.

Do MetaMask Rewards points cost anything to earn?

Opting in is free, but every point comes from real trading. Swaps in MetaMask carry a fee (historically ~0.875%) plus network gas and DEX spread; perps and prediction-market trades have their own fees. So you are paying to accumulate points. Only manufacture volume you would have traded anyway — wash-trading purely for points usually loses more in fees than the points are worth.

What are boosts and multipliers in MetaMask Rewards?

Boosts multiply the points a given trade earns. For example, swaps on the Linea network have carried a 2x boost (double points). Boosts stack multiplicatively-ish: a 100% boost plus a 50% boost combine into a 2.5x multiplier. Boosts are how MetaMask steers volume toward Linea and partner venues.

How do seasons work in MetaMask Rewards?

Rewards run in seasons. After each season your tier progress resets, but points carry over toward the next season's levels and your prior-season trading earns bonuses. Season 1 ran Oct 28, 2025 to Jan 22, 2026; the program relaunched May 6, 2026. Joining between seasons still banks points that count later.

What do you need to use MetaMask Rewards?

The MetaMask mobile app on iOS or Android updated to version 7.57 or higher (Rewards also surfaces in the extension). You opt in from the Rewards tab, optionally link multiple MetaMask accounts to combine points, and connect a BTC/EVM wallet for any token rewards. You must be in a supported region (not the UK).

Is MetaMask Rewards better than a CEX loyalty program?

Different trade-off. A CEX program (Binance, Coinbase) gives fee discounts and cash-back on a custodial venue. MetaMask Rewards keeps you self-custodial and adds a speculative token-allocation upside (LINEA), but its swap fees are higher than a CEX taker fee and point value is uncertain. Use it if you already trade self-custodially; don't move on-chain just to farm points.
